A traditional Thanksgiving meal is a time when families come together to share time and enjoy food. This important time of year is often overlooked, but it is really important to families in need. Why? It is a sense of normalcy that they aren’t any different than other families. Not having a Thanksgiving meal can have a tremendous impact on their sense of well being and can lead to long-term depression. For these reasons, IFCS works to provide them with all the traditional food items plus an assortment of food items for the days after Thanksgiving. This vital support to our neighbors in need can’t be accomplished without your help.
Items we traditionally need include: juice, coffee, French fried onions, cream of mushroom soup, stuffing, yams, cranberry sauce, cookies or candy, etc. Money, or “Turkey Bucks,” is always needed.
“Turkey Bucks” are used to purchase turkeys, fresh produce and items that we do not have enough of.
We also have needs for volunteers to help sort the food, deliver it or help load cars. These events traditionally takes place the week before the holiday. Contact IFCS for more information.
