Thanksgiving Food Basket

Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks and simply being together as a family gathered around the table enjoying a meal.  However, purchasing the makings for this holiday meal may seem impossible for many low-income families and seniors in our community who are already struggling to make ends meet.  IFCS works with the community to provide families and seniors with all the traditional food items plus an assortment of food items for the days after Thanksgiving.

Current Needs List

Donate “Turkey Bucks”

What are Turkey Bucks?  Turkey Bucks can be cash or gift cards that IFCS uses to purchase turkeys, fresh produce, and other food items that we did not receive enough of to include in the Thanksgiving Food Basket.  Last year, IFCS was short more than $700 worth of food to fulfill Thanksgiving food baskets.

We also have needs for volunteers to help sort the food, deliver it or help load cars. These events traditionally take place the week before the holiday. Contact Kendra Brooks at kendrab@ifcs.org for more information.

Adopt-A-Family or Senior for the December Holidays

Share the warmth of the Holiday Season with those who otherwise would not have anything. You get information on: names, ages, gift requests, clothing sizes.  We ask for: clothing for each child in the family, a new toy or gift, a little something for the parent(s), a gift card for the holiday meal and anything else you want to add.

For our seniors, we ask for a box of food for them since many cannot make it to the grocery store, as well as a gift.

This year we had an exceptional turnout of early sponsors, and every single family has been sponsored!  While this is great news, IFCS still needs your support.  Please consider donating in other ways for families who missed registration.  Contact Sarah at SarahR@ifcs.org for more information.

Adopt-A-Family/Senior AND Make a Donation to support the program!

Take your support to another level by not only helping a family in need, but by helping many more families in need through a financial donation. Each year, IFCS spends limited financial resources to provide this program and your financial support can really make a big difference for the organization and the families we help.

Are you thinking about sponsoring multiple families or seniors? Instead of sponsoring 3 families, consider sponsoring 2 families and donating money to IFCS.

Your contribution will support this unique program and ensure it will be available next year!

Make a Donation to directly impact families in need!

Don’t have time to shop? Going to be out of town this Holiday season? You can still help low-income families and seniors by making a tax-deductible donation to support IFCS. It costs IFCS more than $66,000 to administer this unique program to hundreds of individuals who might not otherwise celebrate the spirit of the Holiday season.
