2014 School Supply Program Helps Prepare 976 Students for Future Success

20140731_085434The 2014 Ready, Set, School! program and school supply distribution has just wrapped up and through your support we were able to help 976 students! These students received your donated supplies which allow them to excel in school and make a better future for themselves and their family.

Our school supply programs are a vital part of our mission to help our neighbors in need. This one-time expense is often neglected by families struggling to get food and shelter. Yet, without the supplies, studies have shown students fall behind in their classes.

Your help in gathering and distributing school supplies helps these students succeed. The supplies help raise their self-esteem and give them much needed support to change their future.

The recipients shared their enthusiasm with us. Here are just a few of the comments we heard:

Thank you so much! You helped a single mom out a lot. There’s no way I would have been able to afford it on my own. The gift card will be perfect for new shoes. Thank you for a great start to a new school year! – Renee, Elijah’s mother

I honestly don’t know how I would have made it without your help. You made a difference – Widow

Because of you, I will have what I need to be successful in School. Thank You! – Elementary Girl

The Puppy Backpack made her kindergarten year – Mother of new student

When me and my Mom were bringing my backpack to the car IT WAS HARD!!! So thank you for the awesome stuff – Elementary Girl

You have helped me to have the best year of my life – Fourth Grade Girl

Our program is unique in that we ask for help with getting more than just school supplies. We aim to send them off on their first day with new shoes, outfit and a haircut. This way, they not only have the paper, pencils and other items they need to participate, they have the self-esteem boost as well.

Thank you to all of our donors and volunteers. We hope you will join us next year in supporting this pivotal program!
