2016 IFCS Thanksgiving Food Box Distribution Helps Hundreds
IFCS’ annual Thanksgiving Food Box Distribution provided hundreds of families in need food for the holiday as well as put smiles on their many faces. Your donations to this program provided a bright light in an otherwise dark time for many in need.
On November 19, 2016 volunteers came together to help distribute an estimated 330 boxes of food that day. There were smiles, dancing and a feeling of good will on the chilly morning. Lines of cars awaited the volunteers with families coming to pick up their boxes of food.
Senior food distribution took place the night before with more boxes going out.
Now in its 19th year, the annual distribution provides food for the Thanksgiving meal and for the day after. This helps remove the financial burden on families in need providing this dinner. And it is a financial burden with estimates ranging as high as a few hundred dollars to $50 to provide the meal. This one-time expense often leads to cut in other ways like paying a bill late or sacrificing buying warm clothing.
