4 Ways to Feed the Fam on a Friday Night

One thing’s for sure when it comes to raising children: they love to eat! After a long week at work and school, Friday night dinner can be a time your family can look forward to spending together. Here are some great ideas to help your family kick off the weekend right with a fabulous Friday night feast!

Turn Your Kitchen Into a Potato, Taco, Salad, or Ice Cream Bar

Depending on your mood and what ingredients you have around the house, you can quickly turn your Friday mealtime into a do-it-yourself adventure! Throw some extra-large Idaho spuds into the oven or crockpot and plan a potato bar. Then set out all the fixings, such as sour cream, cheese sauce, bacon bits, and scallions. You can even get creative and throw in toppings like salsa or ground beef. If you’re in the mood for Mexican food, you can make it a taco bar instead. For a health-conscious twist, try a salad bar complete with a choice of dressings, shredded cheese, croutons, and tasty veggie toppings. Last but not least, grab your favorite flavors of ice cream and set them on the counter. Then set out tasty toppings like whipped cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and maraschino cherries.

Take it Easy With a Slow Cooked Meal

If you know you’re going to be at work all day but you still want to treat the family to a home-cooked meal, the crockpot is your answer. There are hundreds of different recipes you can try that will cook all day while you’re away from home and require very little preparation in the morning. For example, you can throw in a pot roast and veggies topped with cream of mushroom soup, water, and onion soup mix and leave it on low all day long. When you and your kids walk through the door that heavenly aroma will be there to greet you!

Go Out to Eat and Enjoy Stress-Free Family Time

If you want a night off from taking care of any meal prep or even doing the dishes, spend your Friday night out with the family at your favorite restaurant. It’s okay to splurge once in a while! Even if you get off work late, you can meet your loved ones at your favorite 24-hour diner. There you can catch up over the catch of the day, or make memories over milkshakes.

Order Takeout or Pack a Picnic for a Family Meal on the Go

If you want to spend your Friday night out somewhere in nature, consider just packing a picnic or grabbing some takeout. Then you can celebrate the start of the weekend together at the beach, in the park, or anywhere your hearts may desire!

When it comes to feeding the family on a Friday night, the most important thing to focus on is togetherness. What you decide to eat will probably soon be forgotten, but the time you’ve spent together can serve to strengthen the bond of love you share.

Who remembers the IFCS Flood of 2017? Well, we had another pipe burst, but this time, staff was here to stop it from demolishing the building! We have some cleaning to do, but all food and goods are safe!
