5 Fun Charity Events To Attend In London

Whilst charity jobs are a serious business, having fun is the best way to attract support. Well organised events that people can participate in and have some fun are a great way of raising money for a serious cause. There are innumerable charity events open to the public, here are a few fun ones for London charity volunteers to get involved with.

World Zombie Day

The World Zombie Day is an annual event where participants get dressed up as zombies and shamble around London for the day. Whilst this may involve a bit of a pub crawl and a party at the end, the event aims to raise money for St Mungo’s, a charity for the homeless in London and the South of England. Donation buckets are passed around, people are encouraged to donate online and there is an entrance fee for the party. The next World Zombie Day is scheduled for the 12th October 2013.

Baketopia is part of the National Baking Week and is aiming to raise some money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital. The event taps into the spirit of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with a 100% edible pop up where you can dip cookies in a milk fountain, harvest meringue mushrooms, catch pastry butterflies and more. The event takes place on 11th and 12th October 2013.

Poetry and Wine

For a slightly more sophisticated charity event, Poetry and Wine has been organised by Poet in the City, a charity supporting poetry education. The event is partnered with the Academie Du Vin De Bordeaux where people can take part in wine tasting, poetry readings and a live string quartet. The event is scheduled for the 22nd October 2013.

3 Hour Zumbathon

There is a Zumbathon event on 27th October 2013 aiming to raise money for St Lukes Hospice. The 3 hour Zumbathon is encouraging anyone to come along and dance, shimmy and shake in the Zumba fitness/dance craze. Those wanting to be involved are charged a small fee which is donated to St Lukes. The participants can get sponsorship forms and there will be professional instructors to help see you through the event.

Bollylicious Bollywood & Bhangra Night – VIP Party

Homeless Support Project, Tough on the Streets London, have organised a Bollylicious Bollywood & Bhangra Night to help raise some funds. The event will be hosted by Lady Tiara, Queen of Bollywood and will feature DJ’s, Dhol players, belly dancers, a dance performance from a special guest and more. The event is due to take place on the 16th October 2013.

Supporting London Charities

London charity volunteers are always busy helping their favourite causes. If you’d like to get involved, there are a huge range of roles you can try. From presentations to entertainment, the volunteering time you offer is essential to the work the charities do. There’s no better feeling than giving your time to a good cause and knowing you’re instrumental in helping the charity raise money to support its goals.
