Food Bank of Choice Opens March 3, 2014
In an effort to better serve our neighbors in need, Inter-Faith Community Services will be changing to a Food Bank of Choice. This means our neighbors will be able to shop and pick out items that their family would enjoy.
How It Works
(Para el español, por favor haga clic aquí. Estamos cambiando a los forma los participantes elegibles que puede ir de compras en nuestro banco de alimentos.)
Starting March 3, 2014, Inter-Faith Community Services will change its food bank to a Food Bank of Choice. What this means is that most users of the food bank will now shop for their food. They will have the opportunity to choose items they can use while leaving items they can’t use on the shelves. There will be staff or volunteers to assist shoppers in this process. There will be limits on the number of items in each food category based on family size. Switching one item to get more of another item will not be allowed. All residents in our service area will also have TEFAP or “commodity” choices available.
Inter-Faith expects that shopping may take about 20 minutes per family, and there may be a wait while others shop, especially as people get used to this change. Parents should keep their children at their side at all times. After shopping, more time will be needed to bag the food chosen. Plan ahead—don’t come to Inter-Faith just before the close of service hours and expect to hurry through the shopping. It will not work out for you.
Persons who will not get to shop include people who receive “Modified Food Orders” or “Out-of-Area Food Orders.” Having all the required documentation will allow persons in Inter-Faith’s service area to get the most out of their visit to the Food Bank of Choice.

Thank you so much to @ChristianBros Highlands Ranch, Arapahoe Road, and Ken Caryl for helping our clients last weekend, they took care of so many ailing hearts and sick vehicles. Though the hope they gave, lives were changed. We so appreciate your support of IFCS year-round!
