Great Ways to Still Look for a Family House During Quarantine

The current quarantine is creating a number of challenges for a lot of businesses. The fact is, you can’t go to the movies, sit down in a restaurant or go shopping at most places. However, it is still possible to shop for a home. Right now, it’s a great time to go home shopping. Prices are coming down and there are people who need to sell their homes immediately. Here are five ways you can still shop for your next family home while under quarantine.

1). Online brokers

You can start by performing an internet search for an online real estate brokerage in your area. The brokerage’s website will have the latest listings complete with photos and sometimes video. You can also find some online brokerages that will offer a 3-D walkthrough tour of the home. If you are interested in a particular home, the realtor will be able to provide you with more information and even arrange for a showing. An online broker is an excellent first step because they know the market and can make some excellent recommendations on how you can find the top deal.

2). Online listing sites

If you are just getting started on how home search, then you may want to cast a wide net. Therefore, you may want to look at online listing sites. These sites will have millions of active listings from all over the country. This is a great option if you are looking at homes in multiple cities or if you want to get a general sense of what’s available. With these online listing sites, you will be able to save your favorite listing, get a neighborhood report, calculate your down payment & monthly payment, and see photos & videos. Be sure to check back on these listing sites each day since they are always adding new listings.

3). Contactless showings

Believe it or not, it is still possible to look at a house during the quarantine. There are a number of real estate brokers that are allowing a contactless showing of the property. With a contactless showing, you arrive at the property where you are giving a code that will unlock the front door. From there, you will be able to tour the house and get a good idea of what the property is like. You can arrange to have a virtual home inspection of the property after you make an offer.

4). Drive-by house listing tours

Another great way to look for houses is to simply drive around your neighborhood and look at homes that have for sale signs listed on the front lawn. You can take photos of the house and contact the listing agent for more information. Also, some of these for sales signs will have fliers available so you can get more information on the property. Many of these properties should be available for a showing. It’s quite possible that you can end up driving by your next home.

5). House buying guides

Before the internet, many people would begin their home search by getting a free magazine or book that has the latest real estate listings. These guides and books are usually available at grocery and convenience stores. These real estate guides will have a listing of homes for sale as well as new construction projects in your city. The listing guides will have contact information so you can get in touch with the realtor for more information. You can get several of these guides and create a shortlist of the homes that you want to see. From there, you can arrange for a showing and potentially make an offer.

Find the Perfect Family Home

Don’t let the quarantine stop you from finding your next family home. There are still a number of ways that you can shop for a home today. You can get started by visiting online real estate brokers, looking at online real estate listing sites, go to a contactless showing, drive-by homes for sales, and getting a buying guide. Try at least one of these approaches. Since people are still selling their homes in this environment, you should be prepared to make an offer. With enough persistence, you will be able to find your next dream home for less.
