With the COVID-19 health crisis limiting nearly everyone’s mobility and ability to travel, many people are looking to create an oasis of fun in their own homes. There are a variety of ways that you can add to your home to make it a more entertaining and relaxing place to be. Here are five ways that you can turn your personal home into a haven of fun and entertainment.

Add a Water Feature

Nothing says fun like a water element in your yard. If you have the space and the budget, a pool is a great tool for entertaining others. This refreshing escape will make your home the place to be each summer. For something smaller and less expensive, you may consider a hot tub. If you do not think you will get use out of any of these water features, something as simple as a garden fountain will deliver peace and tranquility to your outdoor space. There is nothing quite as relaxing as sitting in your private backyard listening to the flow of water bubbling out of a fountain.

Install an Outdoor Kitchen

One of the biggest trends in home improvement projects is the addition of an outdoor kitchen. You can make this kitchen as elaborate as you wish. Go big with a full kitchen and bar area or simply upgrade your grill and seating areas to make it more comfortable and functional. By adding an outdoor cooking and dining area, you will extend the living space of your home, providing more versatility in the warmer months. An outdoor fire pit is also a great addition to any outdoor area. Be sure to include plenty of seating areas around the fire pit. Kids will delight in gathering around a campfire to make s’mores and share stories.

Create Places of Relaxation

In order for your home to be a true oasis, you need to create places of relaxation throughout the house. Even pets can benefit from having places where they can go about their business and relax and be comfortable with things like a modern cat litterbox or an air conditioned dog house that offers some extra comfort for your friends. Creating a reading nook in your home will give you a dedicated space to curl up with a book and relax. All that you need for a reading nook is a small corner and some cozy seating and plenty of light. Adding a hammock to a shady area in the backyard is an easy way to create a space to nap, read, or simply breathe in the fresh air of the great outdoors. If you have a large porch, a porch swing will bring hours of relaxation while also adding a dose of classic style.

Don’t Buy Until You Try

If you do not want to invest in permanent entertainment options for your home, you should consider renting different pieces of equipment. There are many vendors that offer entertainment rentals that you can reserve to outfit your house with loads of fun. Good ideas to consider include arcade games, racing simulators, tabletop games, and carnival options. Regardless of if you want to rent them for just a day or for a month, it is easy to make your home the place to be for fun if you think outside of the box.

Consider Play Structures

Any home with children will benefit from the addition of play structures in the backyard. A traditional swing set is a great play companion for children of all ages. Choosing a set that will grow with your child’s size and interests will provide the best value for your investment. A trampoline is also a favorite play structure for many children. Adults may even love using the trampoline for fitness purposes or for some old-fashioned fun. Smaller children will delight in a sandbox or a water table. If you have athletes in your family, consider adding a sport court. Not only can you use this surface for basketball, but you can also use it for pickleball, four square, and more. For a classic throwback, a tire swing will create loads of great summer memories.

Be sure to choose features that you know you will get the most use out of in the years to come. By investing your home improvement dollar into features that turn your home into a place for fun and family bonding, you will encourage memories that will last a lifetime.
