Project Backpack Needs Your Support!

iStock_000002197576SmallThis week, we were able to reach our goal of pairing children with sponsors through the Ready, Set School! Backpack Program. Each student will get a backpack with grade appropriate school supplies, clothing, and other necessities to begin the school year.

Because of your help last year, we were able to help 976 children pair with a sponsor to gain the essential tools they need to succeed in the new school year. Now we need your help again and its so easy.

We want to make sure every child that comes to us for assistance will get many of the tools they need for success in the classroom this year. We are looking for people to assist us with the next stage of this program called “Project Backpack”.

How does Project Backpack work? We assemble “Non-Gender Specific” backpacks with supplies that can be given to any child in a school grade category (Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle, and High School). A donor will pick an age range and shop for supplies to build a backpack for child(ren) that did not register for the Ready Set School! program.

We are currently looking for Individuals and Organizations that would like to pick one (or more) of the following grade categories and take the list to fill a backpack (or more) with the basic supplies listed. Kindergarten, Elementary,Middle School, High School. We ask that these backpacks be returned to the IFCS office (3370 S. Irving Street, Englewood, CO 80110), no later than Friday August 7th. You may also contact Todd McPherson, Director of Development(303)789-0501×111 for more information.

Can’t fill a complete backpack? There is another way you can help. You can assist the program by donating loose school supplies from our wish list. 2015 School Supply Wish List. Please return these supplies to the IFCS office or drop-off locations listed by July 27th and volunteers will assist us in creating backpacks with supplies from the donated items.

It takes financial resources to provide this resources to our families, consider making a contribution through the  IFCS’ website “Donate Now” section.

We would like to extend a special offer from our partners at Christian Brother Automotive – Highlands Ranch and Arapahoe Road locations. Bring in your school supplies and receipt to one of these locations and they will double what you spent with a discount toward your service order (up to $25, but not toward oil changes). This special discount can be combined with regular coupons that you may have. Call them for additional details.

Reminder: Please drop-off school supplies by July 27th and generic “Project Backpack” by August 7th.

Thank you for helping us, help others!
