2016 Thanksgiving Baskets Food Collection Begins!

ifcs-holiday-programs-logo_newThe 2016 Thanksgiving Baskets campaign is under way and we need your help. Our goal is to once again provide hundreds of Thanksgiving meal food items to our neighbors in need.

2 Ways to Help – It’s Really Easy

1. Collect Food Items to Donate

Help us put food in the baskets by collecting items to donate. We welcome any or all of these items. Feel free to gather what is convenient for you, but we ask that all food donations for this project be delivered by Friday November 6, 2015 to our food bank.

IMG_4321We especially have needs for:

  • Fruit Cocktail
  • Evaporative Milk
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Yams
  • Canned Pumpkin

View our full list here.

In order to distribute the food, we are asking for all items to be dropped off by Friday, November 4, 2016. Please bring all food items to the IFCS offices.

2. Help IFCS Deliver the Program

Delivering this program uses financial resources, help us to continue to provide for this huge need by donating today.

Food Insecurity - The USDA defines it as a state in which “consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources… A household is food insecure if, in the previous year, they experienced limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate foods.”

According to Feeding America, food insecurity is a problem. Almost 28,000 Douglas and 75,000 Arapahoe County residents (1 in 7 Coloradans) face this issue.
