Work From Home: Why It’s A Practical Option For Busy Moms

Moms are busy people who have families to look after and financial responsibilities to consider. However, generating an income that the family can use is not always easy when childcare and other issues get in the way. That is why it is practical for moms to consider working from home and developing a career on their own.

Choose Your Schedule And Workload

When you work from home, you can tailor your schedule around your family’s needs. If you find it impossible to work later in the afternoon because the kids are home from school, then create a schedule that allows you to work during the day. You could even decide to work after the kids have gone to bed and make the best use of that quite time. You can also decide how much work you do in a given week and really help out the family’s finances. Is the family considering going on vacation this year? If so, you can take on a little more of a workload to pay for the vacation and still take care of your household.

Save On Daycare Costs

A mom who works from home can choose to put her kids into daycare for part of the day, or not at all. You can decide to go the less expensive route and bring in a babysitter for a few hours a day while you get work done. The benefit is that you will not have to invest hundreds of dollars per week into daycare costs.

Spend Less On Travel And Food Expenses

Driving to work everyday and buying your lunch can really add up over time. Even if you carpool, you are still putting money in each week towards gas. If you bag your lunch, you still have to invest in the necessary bags and other materials needed to properly package your food. Working from home means saving money on gas, wear and tear on the car money on lunches.

You Get To Dictate Your Own Rules

How would you like a lunch hour where you can watch your favorite television program while relaxing on the couch? When you work from home, you dictate your own rules and you decide just how your day will go. This allows you to create routines that will make your day more tolerable and much less stressful.

Save Money On Work Clothes

When you work at an office, you have to constantly invest hundreds of dollars per year into clothes that you would not normally wear anywhere else. When you work from home, you can save that money and use it on other, more important expenses.

You Become An Anchor For The Family

You don’t want your family to take advantage of the fact that you work from home, but you can also become that fixed point that makes life easier on everyone. When there is an emergency at school with your kids, then the school and your kids always know where you will be. If your husband experiences an emergency, he knows how to get a hold of you at all times.

A mom working from home is a practical solution in many ways. Not only does it save the family money, but it takes much of the stress out of life that comes with working at an office.

Yesterday, we put out an appeal for One Can Feed donations, so that we could replenish our Canned Pasta shelf in the IFCS Food Market. Well, our friends David and Ann came to the rescue. They made a monetary donation, so that we could purchase 125 cans at a deep discount. There will be lots of kids and kids-at-heart that have a quick meal. We are 125 meals closer to our goal of providing 130,000 meals of groceries this year. #OneCanFeed
