Enrichment Activities for Individuals and Groups

Mother’s Day

In March, volunteers begin the registration for Mother’s Day boxes of food and small gifts.  Assembly of up to 200 boxes occurs in April by many individuals and groups of volunteers.  Volunteers are also involved in making reminder calls to clients  and are needed during the distribution process.

2016 IFCS Thanksgiving Food Box DistributionHoliday and Thanksgiving Programs  

From mid-September through the end of October, volunteers assists with registration for clients and their family members, who are then matched with a kindhearted sponsor to receive holiday gifts and food for the upcoming holiday season.

In early December, IFCS receives holiday gifts from sponsors. Volunteers evaluate the packages to ensure all family members are receiving age/ gender appropriate gifts. The gifts are also reviewed for equity between gifts and completeness of overall sponsorship. Distribution of the items occurs in mid -December.  Volunteers assist in locating  the appropriate packages and deliver them to families at IFCS front office area.

Ready, Set, School! (RSS!)

From mid-May through the end of June, volunteers assist clients to register their children so they can receive a new backpack, age-appropriate school supplies, and new clothing and shoes to start the school year.

Starting mid-July, IFCS accepts filled backpacks from RSS! Sponsors’.  Then volunteers quality check each back pack to assess completeness and age-appropriateness.  IFCS volunteers finally assist with the distribution of backpacks to the children at the IFCS office.
