Group Volunteering Opportunities

FOOD AND NON-FOOD DRIVES

Feed the Need Food Drive

The Feed the Need program is a great way to collect donations and inform our neighbors about the work that IFCS does in the communities of Arapahoe and Douglas counties.

The program works in partnership with your local grocery store (store manager’s permission) and involves manning a booth/s at the front of the store. The volunteers inform shoppers about food and non-food IFCS needs with flyers and word of mouth discussions to increase the shoppers participation. The collected food is then brought to IFCS. Groups who collect food may arrange for food to be sorted.

The Feed the Need program is a great way to see first- hand how much food IFCS needs and how community support is vital to meeting this need.

Feed the Need steps::

  1. Download and fill out the Food Drive Commitment form.
  2. Contact the Manager of your local grocery store to secure approval to collect food at their store on your selected date at your selected time. (at least 3 weeks out).
  3. Recruit 5-7 volunteers of your group (including one adult supervisor) 3 hours to conduct a food drive.
  4. Submit the Food Drive Commitment Form to kendrab@ifcs.org to inform us of your approaching Feed the Need food drive.
  5. The week of your Feed the Need food drive contact IFCS again at 303-789-0501 to arrange pick up of needed and sale items flyers to hand to shoppers listing. IFCS will also provide signage..
  6. Return the collected items and signs to IFCS weekdays between 8:30 am-3:30 pm. Please contact Kendra at IFCS at 303-789-0501.

Summer Food Drives

Did you know that one in six children live in poverty in Metro area? The need is compounded during the summer months when schools closed for the summer break. The school meals are one of the largest meals each day for children in need.

Your donations help keep our food bank shelves full are needed during the summer months. During this time of year, our food supply runs dangerously low.   Support during the summer months is vital to the children in our communities.

Collecting food can be as easy as throwing a party and asking everyone to bring a canned food. Or setting up a donation box inside your office lunch room.

Note: complete Food Drive Commitment form, save and email to KendraB@Ifcs.org fax to 303.789.3808 or mail to 3370 South Irving St. Englewood, CO 80110.

Non-Food Drive Needs

Feed the Need Food Drive

Arrange 3-hour time slot with local grocery store to solicit non-perishable donations from shoppers. Then deliver collected items to IFCS food bank. IFCS provides signage and flyers.

Have a “Shower Shower”

Collect all personal care items that you would use in your own bathroom: shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, razors, tampons, lotion, etc. For people who are struggling to feed their family, these luxuries are often too expensive.

Have a Paper Drive

Collect toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, diapers, etc. These items are always needed!

Socks And Underwear

IFCS only gives out new socks and underwear in our clothing bank and we never have enough.

Jelly Drive

We get bread in four times a week and lots of peanut butter, but what good is it to give out bread and peanut butter without the jelly? Joins others in your community by collecting Jelly and donating it to IFCS.

Birthday Boxes

Fill a box with everything a parent would need for their child’s birthday like a cake pan, cake mix, frosting, party favors, napkins and a gift for the child. For parents worried about feeding their family they often think a birthday celebration is something they can’t afford.

Welcome Home Baskets (for Rapid Re-Housing Project)

Fill a laundry basket with paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, toilet cleaner, all purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, disinfectant wipes, sponges, trash bags, small calendars, gloves.

Please email to KendraB@Ifcs.org

Building and Landscaping Needs

IFCS continues to have handy- person needs from painting, paint touch ups, building shelves, moving furniture and other items.

Landscaping needs are always an issue including pulling weeds, to raking, to trimming trees and bushes and paint touches outside the building.

Please email to KendraB@Ifcs.org
