We are excited to have you help us prepare Thanksgiving Baskets for distribution to low-income families in our community.  Below are the available opportunities. Remember, slots fill quickly.  Please select the area for which you would like to volunteer, then complete your first and last name, group affiliation if any, phone or email, then submit form.

Box Movers Quality Check Box Stackers

Check In/Check Out – 2 spots available. Volunteers should arrive promptly at 4:45 PM.

Volunteers are responsible for:

  • Checking in all volunteers as they enter the IFCS building at the food market entrance.
  • Distributing name tags
  • Giving directions of dinner location
  • Helping with cleaning
  • Filling in areas where needed
  • Collecting name tags

Box Makers –  Teen/Adult Position. Volunteers should arrive promptly at 4:45 PM.

Volunteers are responsible for securely taping box flaps together for food collection.  These volunteers will move to other positions (Box Mover, Quality Check) once all boxes are made.

Back Stockers – Captain and 4 spots available – Teen/Adult Position

Volunteers are responsible for pulling all food items from storage shelves and placing them in assigned area for the Item Packers. Also responsible for breaking down boxes and stacking flats. Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds.

Item Numbers/Item Packers – 3 spots available – Teen/Adult Position. Volunteers should arrive promptly at 4:45 pm.

Volunteers will be standing for 1-2 hours.
Each item a family receives is assigned a number. Items are numbered to help Quality Check Volunteers identify if all items have been placed in box. These volunteers serve two roles.
Volunteers are responsible for:

  • Numbering Items – Numbering will take place before assembly begins. Volunteers are responsible for numbering each item at their station.
  • Packing Items – Volunteers are responsible for placing their numbered item in a box each time a Box Mover comes to their station

Box Movers – 4 spots available – Teen/Adult Position

Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds.
Volunteers are responsible for picking up assembled box then carrying it to each food station where volunteer at each station will put numbered item in the box. Once all items are in the box, it will be taken to Quality Control. The process will continue process again until all boxes are filled.

Quality Check –  Teen/Adult Position

Volunteers are responsible for accepting packed boxes from the Box Movers. They will check to make sure all the items are in the boxes. If any items are missing they will be responsible for adding that item to the box. They will work in teams of two with one volunteer being the runner for missing items.

Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds.
Volunteers are responsible for receiving completed boxes from the Quality Check. They will carry, stacking and counting number of completed boxes.
